This Input Method allows the use of any numeric keyboard to enter characters. This can be the normal full PC Keyboard, using the numeric keyboard portion, or can be a plug in separate numeric pad. This enables a very simple device to be used to operate JayBee.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT NUM LOCK MUST BE ENGAGED FOR THIS INPUT METHOD.
TO RETURN TO NORMAL KEYBOARD MODE NUM LOCK MUST BE SWITCHED OFF.
The keyboard shown is a predictive keyboard, similar to that which can be seen on a mobile phone. As the keys for the groups of characters are pressed, JayBee will build up the possible words that the combinations give. In exactly the same way as with keyboard entry the 4 Aid panels will be updated. To select any of the possibilities presented press 'Aids' which will cause the Predictive Aids Keyboard to appear.
If a word you require is not currently in the JayBee vocabulary then press the 'Spell' key. This cause the Predictive Spell Keyboard to appear.
The layout of the Predictive Keyboard mirrors the numeric keypad. It is shown below.
